Transforming Software Development Lifecycle: A Journey with Aldon

Introduction to the Challenge

Back in 2014, the primary credit card company in Venezuela faced a significant challenge: their software development lifecycle was managed entirely through manual processes. This not only caused inefficiencies but also posed risks to the integrity and security of their applications. Recognizing the need for a robust solution, I stepped in to demonstrate the benefits of Aldon Lifecycle Management software for IBM i and multi-platform environments, integrated with the comprehensive CRM tool, Aldon Community Manager.

Implementing a Comprehensive Solution

After showcasing the capabilities of Aldon, we highlighted how a strong and secure application could manage all internal software changes while seamlessly integrating with the global ticketing and request tools. The demonstration convinced the client of the advantages, and they approved the project to move forward.

We began with an information exchange to assess the current state of their processes and develop the best approach for a complete lifecycle process, encompassing development, testing, and production implementation. Initially, we focused on guiding developers through the new tool, replacing outdated and insecure software handling methods. Concurrently, with the change control team, we implemented the CRM tool, building processes to ensure the most secure and efficient workflow, reducing unnecessary changes and risks by 80%.

Ensuring Success Through Training

Following the implementation, I conducted a series of training sessions for all team members, guiding them through the new system and ensuring they could utilize the tool effectively. Additionally, I provided ongoing support, shadowing them along the learning curve to guarantee the best use of the tool. This comprehensive approach ensured a smooth transition and maximized the benefits of the new system.

By integrating Aldon and its CRM capabilities, we not only improved operational efficiency but also significantly enhanced the security and stability of the client's software environment.
